Director, Finance – Based in Boston, MA

The Opportunity:

Join a growing team dedicated to development and management of energy infrastructure, community economic development, corporate social responsibility, safeguarding environmental resources, and sharing in the growth of a highly ethical, competitive, and privately held company.


  • Lead capital raise/refinancing efforts for development projects, acquisition projects and operating projects including senior debt, mezzanine debt and equity
  • Responsibilities include
    • Develop and maintain relationships with commercial and investment banks that are active in the financing of US power projects and project developers to stay current on markets of execution, key terms and structuring trends, best practices
    • Manage the capital raise process including solicitation of proposals, selection of capital providers/advisors and negotiation of key terms and conditions
    • Manage due diligence process and coordination of internal and external resources (internal team, financial model for debt financing and equity valuation, partners, lawyers, market consultants, independent engineer, commercial and investment banks, etc.)
    • Manage and negotiate documentation process including debt documentation, purchase and sale agreement and partnership operating agreements
    • Manage the financial close process to ensure timely, efficient, financial close processes


  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in finance, accounting or economics
  • MBA or CFA preferred
  • Well established, deep commercial and investment banking network
  • Experience in leading and closing transactions from either developer/owner or banking perspective
  • Experience in execution of senior debt transactions across multiple markets
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, analytical, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to perform within a matrix organizational environment
  • Position requires a high level of initiative, patience and endurance to originate transactions and maintain composure through the challenges often presented during financing processes

Ideal candidate would have experience in some of the following areas:

  • Experience in financing natural gas-fired generation
  • Experience in financing renewable generation including solar and wind
  • Knowledge of US RTOs including ERCOT, ISO-NE, MISO, PJM and NY-ISO
  • Knowledge of key commercialization arrangements utilized to finance transactions including gas netback agreement, heat rate call option, revenue put, spark spread hedge
